Below are some of the most frequently asked technical questions:

How do I transfer Depreciation Calculator to my new computer?

  1. Install Depreciation Calculator on your new computer using the setup file you downloaded from the last Annual Update that you purchased. Or, go to the Annual Updates page of our website and purchase the most recent Annual Update.
  2. Go to your old computer and find the Asset Database.mdb file which is located in the following folder location:
    On a Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer, the folder location is:
    C:\ProgramData\Cellutionware Software\Depreciation Calculator\
    Note that ProgramData is one word and that it is a hidden folder. See the instructions below to unhide hidden folders.
  3. Copy the Asset Database.mdb file to a removable flash drive, CD or DVD.
  4. Go to your new computer and paste the Asset Database.mdb file into the same folder location as mentioned in step 2 above.
  5. Close all open windows.
  6. Now you must update your Asset Datebase.mdb file:
    1. Start Depreciation Calculator
    2. Press the Settings button
    3. Click on the Options tab
    4. Press the Update Asset Database File button
  7. You are now ready to use Depreciation Calculator on your new computer.

How do I unhide hidden folders on a Windows 10 computer?

  1. Click on the File Explorer (located on the taskbar in the far left-hand side)
  2. Click on the View tab
  3. Click on the Options menu on the far right hand side of the ribbon and select change folder and search options.
  4. Click on the View tab from within the new Options window that appears
  5. Click the button next to Show hidden files, folders, and drives
  6. Press the OK button
